WikiGuidelines
From CertamenWiki
First of all, if you are new to wikis, we strongly suggest that you read Wikipedia:Introduction. Although the NCP CertamenWiki is not identical to the Wikipedia, you can use the technical knowledge found there to contribute here (as both Wikipedia and the NCP CertamenWiki uses the MediaWiki software). One of the biggest differences between Wikipedia and the NCP CertamenWiki that you should immediately notice is that while on Wikipedia you can edit almost everything without registering, you MUST register to add/modify/remove content on the NCP CertamenWiki.
So, once you have registered and are familiar with wikis, you can start adding your own articles. However, we would like you to follow this proceduce when doing so:
- Go to the main page and, depending on what you are planning to add, select either the Table of Contents for Questions or Study Guides.
- In the respective table of contents, find the section that best fits your contribution. Then edit that section and add a link to the new article. You can either make the title of your article the link or you can specify a different link (in either case make sure that # prepends the link. Also, make sure that you have not used an existing link for the new one. One way to do this is by having the following format for link and/or title: <Your Name> - <Article Title>). e.g.:
Creating a link that is same as the title: #[[Title]]
Creating a link with a different title: #[[Link|Title]]
If a suitable section does not exist, feel free to create one. If you have trouble formatting the new section, just enter whatever information that you think is necessary and someone will probably come-by later and fix it. - Once you have edited and saved the table of contents, browse back to the table and click on the new link you created, and hopefully you will be taken to a location to edit a blank page. If the page you were trying to edit already has content, please go back and change the name of the link from step 2. You can then try again.
- Go ahead and write the content you wish to share and save the page once you are done. If you used any sources for your work, you need to list them at the bottom of the page (it would be preferable if you used the MLA format for citing sources). Also, if you need help with anything for the article, you can either indicate that on the article itself or in the Discussion page for the article.
- Finally, you can head over to the Staff page and enter your name into the Contributors list. If you were beneficially editing some other work, you can insert your name into the Editors list. Thank you!
- If you were modifying an existing page, it would be good if you 1) put a brief description for reasons of editing in the Summary box on the Editing page and 2) place a note on the Discussion page for the respective article decribing the edit.
- N.B: You may NOT add copyrighted work (e.g. questions from the National Junior Classical League) without express consent from the copyright holders. Should anyone approach us and verifiably claim that their copyrighted work has been used without permission, the said information will be immediately removed AND the user who added that data will be subject to a ban from the wiki (we will investigate thoroughly before banning anyone however).
- PLEASE do NOT vandalize articles. Although this is a repository open to the community, please act in an ethical manner so that everyone can benefit from the wiki. Know that your account will be banned if are you are guilty of vandalism. Thank you.
- We also ask that you do not post on here unless you are open to critique from fellow peers. By all means, you can defend your work but if it starts causing a major drama, we will probably ask you to leave. Similarly, those who are reviewing others' articles, please be considerate when proposing feedback/suggestions. Let's try to keep this wiki amiable and useful. Gratias ago vobis!
- Finally, all text posted on the CertamenWiki will be licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. This will allow others to freely use your material (of course with proper credit). If you do not wish to share your articles freely, then it may not be a good idea to submit articles to the wiki.
