- Consuls explain and discuss expectations for board members during the 2006-2007 school year.
- Proconsuls need to work on IJCL amendments to be submitted for February 2007 IJCL Convention.
- Aediles
should (1) find a way of raising money to cover NCPHS students’
spirit fees for the February 2007 IJCL Convention and (2) understand
that they have the power to and must at some point appoint subcommittee
leaders for projects such as scrapbook and skit. They should also
clarify and fine-tune ideas for fund raising.
- Quaestor
Scriptoum should by the winter break have the first issue of Bucephalus
out to NCPHS. Topics to be included are Toga-Treating, the first ICL
Certamen meet, and NCPHS Latin Club elections.
- Quaestor
Pecuniarum will handle Toga-Treating money and Spirit Fee money. She
will also need to deposit money earned from sale of NCPHS Latin Club
T-shirts at NJCL.
- Censor must be punctual for all future
meetings, create lists for Latin Club members with active emails, and
increase recruitment, specifically at Language Night.
- Praetors will work on writing grants in order to increase the Latin Club library.
- Question:
Can the grants be used for other purposes such as a payment for a
financially challenged student’s trip to IJCL? There are issues.
The applicants are not anonymous because it would require the officers
to review financial situations of the applicants. There are legal
complications in regulation due to money. If we had a solid method for
evaluating it might be possible.
- Tribune will be responsible for keeping the freshman/Latin 1 class informed as to the doings of the board.
- The
aediles Jane Bialek and Spencer Rosenfeld explain their goals for the
year. They are to increase money through activities such as hosting a
school dance or selling candy and/or soda during lunch periods. This
money will be used to achieve the goal of charging NO Spirit Fee for
the February 2007 IJCL Convention. Anything extra may be allotted the
library or the tentative IJCL scholarship. Part of the goal is not only
to work out this year’s situations but also to set up for next
year. Intent to practice cheers before Winter Break is announced by
Jane Bialek, noting that it cannot occur during class. The February
2007 IJCL Convention skit submission deadline is TBD. The aediles must
decide whether they will decide on the skit themselves or will submit
it to the vote of the Latin Club. Skit practice should begin earlier so
as to make a better skit.
- T-shirt Ideas and spirit props need to be determined.
- It is suggested that the posting of the JCL appointed oratories on the NCPHS Latin Club website would be helpful for students.
- Officers should remind their respective Latin classes to hand in their packets for the February 2007 IJCL Convention.
