Tomorrow is the Illinois Certamen League Finals hosted at Northside! Please volunteer to help the Latin Club out by signing up on the volunteer sheet posted in the Latin room. Also, if you did already volunteer, remember to report to Mr. Nifong immediately after school for duty assignments. Let’s get hyped up!
IJCL 2011 was another huge success for NCP Latin Club! Northside came home with 1st in both Most Sweepstakes Points Earned by a School and Most Sweepstakes Points Earned Per Capita by a School for the second year running. Daniel Washelesky won the Lios Dion Award for Best Performance on Academic Tests while Mary Mussman won Liz Skoryi Award for Best Performance in Creative Arts. Eight Northsiders placed in the top eight spots of the individual sweepstakes contest. FInally, David Jaffe and Daniel Washelesky were both elected to the 2011-12 IJCL Board as President and Secretary respectively. Let’s extend our congratulations to all who attended convention and helped continue Northside’s success at IJCL!
Remember these key upcoming events!
1. For those attending IJCL, please turn in the additoinal $19 to cover chaperone fees to Mr. Nifong at earliest convenience. Also, if you have not turned in any other fees (NJCL membership, National Latin Exam, etc.), please do so as well.
2. The postponed ICL meet has been moved to Tuesday, February 8. Go cheer on Northside’s Certamen Team!
3. IJCL countdown has begun! Finish up those art projects, memorize the creative arts passages, and study for the upcoming tests! For any questions about competition criteria, rules, etc. go to the official Illinois Junior Classical League website at http://iljcl.org/ For the creative arts passage, go to http://njcl.org/
Voting started this past Friday, and will continue through this Friday, until 11 pm.
